Gunboi

Gunboi is a 3D Platformer FPS prototype that flips the roles Platformer and FPS elements often play in a game, Players use their Gun to jump and maneuverer around a level instead of shooting enemies, which are only vulnerable to being landed on top of.

Games Design

  • Designed a unique core concept for the game.

    • The game provides a unique 3D platforming experience as the player can’t technically jump, instead using the various gun modes to traverse the level.

  • Designed 3 variant Guns with unique platforming and traversal implications.

Technical & Level Design

  • Built the player character using UE4 Blueprints.

    • Includes all 3 variant guns, upgrades for said guns, animations etc.

  • Made AI for various Slime enemies in the game

    • Includes Regular, High Jump, Fast and Larger variants. The Larger variants split into smaller Slimes on death.

  • Designed and Implemented a Boss with 3 phases and access to 4 unique attacks.

  • Built a level for the prototype.

    • Split into several segments, each provides different platforming challenges and puzzles, allowing players to experiment with new abilities and upgrades as they unlock them during progress.

    • The level ends with a Boss fight.

Sound & UI

  • Designed and created artwork for UI.

  • Sourced, edited and created sound effects and music to enhance the game feel.
